Family Notes...Avraham Freizeit and his brothers.

Avraham Freizeit (great-grandfather)..

Avraham Nissan Freizeit was born in the second half of the 19th century, probably in Poland, and was a tailor.

Avraham married Chaya Einachovski, probably in the late 1880s, and had three sons - Zundel, Max (b.1893) and Sam (b.1903) - and six daughters - Yetta (b.1888), Aydel, Fradel, Rosie, Sophie (b.1892) and Leah (b.1897). 

As a point of interest, Avraham's great-great-granddaughter, Gayle Peppi, married his great-great-grandson, Ben Lazarus, in 1998.

 

Pesach Freizeit (great-great-grand-uncle)

Pesach Freizeit was born in the second half of the 19th century, probably in Poland. 

Pesach married and had (at least) two daughters - Leah (who emigrated to Palestine before the outbreak of WW2) and Sarah. 

This branch of the family tree includes the following family names - Sheinfield, Cohen.

 

Baruch Freizeit (great-great-grand-uncle)

Baruch Freizeit was born in the second half of the 19th century, probably in Poland. 

Baruch married Malcha and had a son, Chanan, who emigrated to Palestine before the outbreak of WW2.

This branch of the family tree only includes the family name Freizeit.

 

At the outbreak of WW2, the Russian army occupied Augustow as part of the non-aggression pact with Germany.  In 1941 the German army attacked Russia and advanced further into Poland occupying Augustow. The following names are recorded in the Yizkor book for Augustow as having perished during the Holocaust - Freizeit: Avraham Nissan and Chayah, Aydel, Zundel and his family, Baruch Lazer, Malcha and her family, Pesach, his wife and children. 

It is believed they were all shot in Augustow in 1941.
